14.04.03 - Frankenstein

People often ask me "Hey, did you take my wallet!?", but that has nothing to do with what I want to talk to you about right now. Infact it's so irrelevant that some people might say it had no place in the opening paragraph of todays blant entry. But those people are ugly, and therefore wrong, despite how correct they are.

What I really wanted to talk about today was Frankenstein. A great misconception is being thrown around today like a big whale of falsificatory badness. Like all whales, it's a mammal (and we all know what that means). Anyway the misconception of which I speak can best be illustrated by illustrations. But I don't have time for that and so I'll just re-create below what a typical conversation centred around this misconception might go like via the miracle of italics;

Johnny A: Hey look at his head. He looks like some kind of Frankenstein or something. Let us rest our cups upon his quite flat head of Frakensteinian quality.

Johnny B: Actually, Frankenstein was the name of the creator, not the monster. The monster was just called the monster. I fear it is you who is the idiot head here and therefore I can no longer have your children. Here, take them.

Aaahh, don't you just love those italics?

Anyway, while it is true that Frankenstein was the name of the creator, it is also true that Johnny B is a stupid face. The mistake he makes of course is that Frankenstein quite clearly is the name of the monster since it is Dr. Frankenstein's creation/offspring. Just as you and I got our names from our fathers (not Johnny B though, he's a bastard), so too did the monster.

I writted this for my A-Level English Lit. paper and got an F (for Fantastic!). I have produced a condensed version of that paper here partially so I could test out some design issues with the new site and I have nothing else to say, and partially so that you may benefit from my head too. What are you sniggering at? Anyway it also allows me to link quite nicely to this site which is wonderfully lovely.

Now here is a picture of my cat with a cone on his head;
